With the use of our very own spotter plane, our pilot will direct us to whale sharks and any other marine life spotted from above.

Our amazing itinerary for the day:

- Starting from 7:45am, you will be picked up from your accommodation in our private bus. Listen in or chill out during the drive down the coast as we’ll be telling you all about what you're about to experience before being taken out to the WINDCHEETAH sailing catamaran where you will be greeted by our friendly crew and fitted with masks, snorkels, fins and wetsuits. We’ll take exceptional care of you and ensure everybody is 100% at ease, feeling confident and excited! 

- Moments later immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters of Ningaloo Reef at one of our beautiful snorkel spots in the sheltered lagoon. Here you will see an array of corals and colourful fish, sometimes even turtles and rays! Take this time to ask questions, get snorkelling tips, make sure your gear fits and practice getting on and off the boat before your Whale Shark swim. Our guides will be right there with you in the water to steer you in the right direction, and to pay special attention to any modest swimmers. Feel free to grab one of our floating noodles should you feel like the extra bit of flotation.

- Now you can enjoy morning tea as our plane gets searching for Whale Sharks. Our crew will organise you into small intimate groups and as soon as a whale shark is spotted, swimming guests will be directed to put their snorkel gear on and get ready for one of the greatest moments of your life! You are about to swim with the biggest fish in the world, the whale shark! 

- Your group and your guide drop in and get up close and personal to the worlds biggest fish, this is your chance to experience wonder and marvel at the sheer size, grace and elegance of the whale shark! Most of these sharks are between 4 and 12 metres long but have been known to grow as large as 18 metres!

- This may not be your only whale shark swim, the pilot has been busy searching for another gentle giant to swim with, and on their call get ready to do it all again… and again!

- After we have spent as much time as possible with the whale sharks you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch as we cruise the reef in search of any other wildlife. Manta rays, dolphins, humpback whales, turtles, dugongs and anything else that may be around. 

- Now we head back inside the lagoon where the water is turquoise blue and anchor up at a new special spot on the reef for another snorkel. 

- Relax with some refreshing afternoon tea and a glass of sparkling wine on our way back to shore before the crew return you safe and sound and full of smiles back to your accommodation.

She has been extensively refurbished to offer two huge areas of seating and viewing for guests and easy, direct access to and from the water. Her upper deck sits almost 5 m above the water and boasts 360 degree viewing for spotting all the amazing wildlife we may encounter, whilst her lower deck is well protected from the elements should it get a bit windy and is extremely spacious and comfortable. There is also a lounged area in the cockpit offering sheltered wildlife viewing options. Come and join us for a spectacular sundowner in the Exmouth Gulf on our 60 ft luxury sailing catamaran! In the warmer months, we utilise our cargo net to allow passengers to enjoy a refreshing tow in the water. During the cooler, winter months, guests enjoy a couple of hours whale watching and coasting along under sail. We supply a glass of sparkling wine and nibbles, and feel free to BYO additional beverages on board.  Cool off with an exhilarating ride in our famous cargo net, then kick back and lounge around on our trampolines, daybeds or beanbags and take in the serenity or if you have energy to burn get involved with hoisting and trimming the sails. Watch the colours of the afternoon and evening unfold with the spectacular Nor’ west Cape and Exmouth Gulf as your backdrop.

Humpback Whale Swim on a Powerboat - August, September and October.

Ningaloo Discovery is excited to announce that we’ve been selected by the Department of Parks and Wildlife to operate in the first ever in water Humpback Whale Swim Tours conducted from the World Heritage Listed Ningaloo Marine Park, from Exmouth. This is the first time this exciting opportunity will be trialled in Western Australia with only a handful of other locations around the world commercially licenced to offer this amazing experience. The Ningaloo Marine Park is recognised as one of the major migratory routes for these magnificent creatures on their annual journey from Antarctica to the Kimberley region with an estimated 30,000 passing by and resting in the sheltered waters in 2016.

Ningaloo Discovery offers guests a Humpback Whale experience on-board a very stable, spacious 60ft luxury powerboat, which provides a 360-degree viewing platform and the opportunity to lounge and relax on the comfortable day bed, flybridge couches and various seating spots while soaking up and enjoying the beauty of the Ningaloo Marine Park and all the amazing wildlife we may encounter. With the use of our very own spotter plane, our pilot will direct us to pods of whales and any other marine life spotted from above.

Swimming with a Humpback Whale in their natural environment is an extraordinary life changing experience, one not to be taken for granted, and as such is conducted with the utmost respect to the whales. Each day presents a unique experience, and some whales are more interactive than others. Humpback Whales are often inquisitive creatures and it is quite possible they will seek interaction with humans and swim close to us. Ningaloo Discovery will do absolutely everything possible to have guests swimming in the water with a Humpback Whale! 

The crew of Ningaloo Discovery are very experience in reading the whales behaviour and interaction viability. Your small group of 7 and your guide will slide into the water and aim to swim with a majestic Humpback Whale, this is truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Our amazing itinerary for the day:

- Starting from 7:20am, you will be picked up from your accommodation and taken out to Investigator, our luxury powerboat, where you will be greeted by our friendly crew and fitted with masks, snorkels, fins and wetsuits. 

- We then set off for the Ningaloo Marine Park, whilst heading out we take some time to provide interpretive information on Humpback Whale behaviours and  the Ningaloo in general. We then find the best spot on the day to enter the water for our first snorkel. Take this time to ask questions, get snorkelling tips, make sure your gear fits and practice getting on and off the boat before your whale swim.

- Now you can enjoy morning tea as our plane gets searching for Humpback Whales. Once located we will get nice and close with the boat to observe these gentle giants as they cruise through the water. The pilot, skipper and crew will asses the whales behaviour and then whale swimming guests will be directed to put their snorkel gear on and we will do our best to get you interacting with them in the water! Observers will watch the action from the comfort of Investigator. If these whales are not viable to swim with, our pilot will to their best to find us more!

- After we have spent as much time as possible with the Humpback Whales you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch as we cruise the coast in search of any other wildlife. This could include Manta Rays, Dolphins, Whale Sharks, Turtles and anything else that we may be lucky enough to encounter. 

- Weather and time permitting our skipper will find another snorkel spot for a second snorkel after which we have a leisurely run back to our mooring whist taking in the scenery and watching for more Whale antics enroute.

- Relax with some refreshing afternoon tea and a glass of sparkling wine on our way back to shore before the crew return you safe and sound and full of smiles back to your accomodation.

Whale Shark Swim & Eco Tour on a Sailing Catamaran - Shoulder Season - August, September, October

Whale sharks are frequent visitors to the Ningaloo Reef, even after the official whale shark season is over.

Your day includes the chance to snorkel the Ningaloo reef and if our spotter plane is successful at locating viable megafauna, you may have the opportunity to swim with whale sharks, humpback whales or manta rays. 

The Ningaloo Reef is alive with marine wildlife during the months of August - November and on any given day, Mother Nature may offer the opportunity to view or swim with whale sharks, humpback whales, manta rays, turtles, dugongs, dolphins and a huge variety of tropical fish and corals. In previous years, we have had a high success rate of orchestrating in water interactions during our shoulder season. However, our success is highly dependent on mother nature. Our boat crew and spotter plane will do their very best to locate suitable megafauna for our guests. Please note, we do not offer any guarantees at this time of year and on occasion, may be unsuccessful at orchestrating an interaction with any specific megafauna.

We offer guests the most stable and comfortable viewing platforms to view and interact with wildlife from the decks of our 60ft luxuriously appointed sailing catamaran. Join us for a day out on “Investigator” as we set sail through the shallow turquoise lagoons and along the back of the stunning Ningaloo Reef whilst stopping to take advantage of whatever spectacular wildlife comes our way. 

Our marine interactions occur out the back of the reef in the open ocean. Ocean conditions can be subject to wind, swell, currents and tides. At times, this can cause the vessel to move, as guests enter and/or exit the water.  As such, a reasonable level of fitness is required by participants to enter/exit the water.

If a viable humpback whale, whale shark or manta ray is spotted by the pilot, skipper and crew will asses the conditions and if deemed suitable, guests will be directed to put their snorkel gear on and we will do our best to get you interacting with them in the water!

- Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch as we cruise the reef in search of any other wildlife that may be around on the day. 

- Now we head back inside the lagoon where the water is turquoise blue and anchor up at a new special spot on the reef for another snorkel.

Here you will see an array of corals and colourful fish, sometimes even turtles and rays! Take this time to ask questions, get snorkelling tips, make sure your gear fits and practice getting on and off the boat before swimming with any marine life.

- Now you can enjoy morning tea as our plane gets searching for any marine life in the area. If a viable humpback whale, whale shark or manta ray is spotted by the pilot, skipper and crew will asses the conditions and if deemed suitable, guests will be directed to put their snorkel gear on and we will do our best to get you interacting with them in the water!

- Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch as we cruise the reef in search of any other wildlife that may be around on the day. 

- Now we head back inside the lagoon where the water is turquoise blue and anchor up at a new special spot on the reef for another snorkel. 

- Relax with some refreshing afternoon tea and a glass of sparkling wine on our way back to shore before the crew return you safe and sound and full of smiles back to your accomodation. 

- The experience lives on as we will provide you will all the photos of the day taken by our professional photographer free of charge

Whale Sharks are frequent visitors to the Ningaloo Reef, even after the official Whale Shark season is over.  This year we are extending our Eco Tours into the summer months to see just how long they stick around for! 

This means that on board our Summer Eco Tours which run from November to December, whilst we can’t guarantee any Whale Shark swims, guests will have the opportunity to swim with the one if sighted by our spotter plane.  The summer is also when large numbers of turtles come to the Ningaloo to breed and lay their eggs, so we will be on the look out for them too!

We will set off early to try and get the best of the day before the sea breeze comes in, to explore the sheltered lagoon and its countless snorkeling sites home to a whole host of beautiful corals, tropical reef fish, turtles, rays and dolphins.  We will send our pilot up for a couple of hours to check if there are any Whale Sharks around and venture out onto the back of the reef to have a swim if one pops up.

We offer guests the most stable and comfortable viewing platforms to view and interact with this wildlife from the decks of our 60ft luxuriously appointed sailing catamaran. Join us for a day out on “Windcheetah” as we set sail through the shallow turquoise lagoons and along the back of the stunning Ningaloo Reef whilst stopping to take advantage of whatever spectacular wildlife comes our way.

Your day includes the opportunity to snorkel the reef, spot turtles, dolphins and mantas. If the opportunity presents itself to swim with a Whale Shark the option is there to upgrade onboard on the day for an additional "Whale Shark Swim Fee" of $50 cash per person. 

We also might encounter the curious and interactive Manta Rays and do our best to get you in for a swim with these inquisitive and majestic creatures at no extra charge.  

Weather and time permitting try your hand at one of our Stand Up paddle Boards or a kayak during the afternoon snorkel for a different view of the reef.

Your half day tour includes the opportunity to snorkel the reef, talk with marine specialists, sail the lagoon and ride in our famous cargo net, which kids love, but is not just for kids! (Photos are not included on this tour).

Our amazing itinerary for the morning:

- Starting from 7:00am, you will be picked up from your accommodation and taken out to the Windcheetah sailing catamaran where you will be greeted by our friendly crew and fitted with masks, snorkels, fins and wetsuits.

- Moments later immerse yourself in the waters of Ningaloo Reef at one of our beautiful snorkel spots in the sheltered lagoon. Here you will see an array of corals and colourful fish, sometimes even turtles and rays! 

- Now you can enjoy morning tea after your snorkel as we start to cruise through the lagoon, and if the wind is in our favour we will get out the sail!

- Catch a ride on our famous cargo net, as we tow you through the turquoise lagoon!  

- After your morning on the boat our team will transfer you back to your accommodation for around midday, so you’ll be back in time for lunch!
